One To Many Lambeth

One to Many Lambeth is a small un-constituted grassroots civic education organisation based in Brixton.

Lambeth residents are fatigued and disillusioned after trying to navigate the Local Council's numerous and complicated systems of community engagement and participation: 

In 2021, only 28% of Lambeth residents believed that they could influence decisions affecting their local area. That’s down from 59% in 2015, meaning that the total number was halved within six years. [Source: Lambeth Annual Resident Survey 2015-2021].

The Council's failure to educate its citizens creates further apathy, often resulting in the Council's plans and strategies going forward without the necessary scrutiny to ensure that they represent the wants and needs of the people.

The inaccessibility of the system along with the cost of living crisis and the pressures of everyday life means that only the few with sufficient resources and capacity tend to participate and thus a small minority can often inadequately represent a varied and diverse community, excluding the most vulnerable who are most likely to be affected by the decisions made.

For some of Lambeth all they is the deterioration of services, the worsening of living standards (One in five Lambeth Council homes “Non-Decent” as £3.4bn repairs bill looms”).

But together we can turn this all around...

One To Many's mission is to demystify Lambeth Council's plans and procedures through the provision of accessible and collectively sourced civic educational materials in order to empower Lambeth residents to be more involved in the shaping of their local communities.

To create a harmonious democratic society in Lambeth where residents and local government co-create a future for Lambeth that truly serves its constituents.
