Annual Update for 2023
Published on December 26, 2023 by Kassandra

  1.  What did you accomplish during 2023? How did you use money?
We had a lot of changes this year, including a big surprise where we had to transition from being a part of Code for America (specifically a local brigade) to being on our own. No money was used outside of what was spent when we were still part of Code For America.
  2. What challenges did you face during 2023? What did your Collective learn? How did you change or grow?
Transition to being our own nonprofit. We've had a lot of change in leadership as well. It's been a hard lesson to learn how to manage, as we are a small group of volunteers. But we are working on building up our volunteers not just in numbers, but skill and leadership.
  3. What are your plans for 2024? Anything exciting coming up?
Finish our own site migration / setup and having it be an open source solution. This was our volunteers get a taste of working together and any website changes can easily be done by the team. Once that's done, we can work on projects that support civic tech efforts.

Our new URL is:  http://opendallas.org

Right now it forwards to a link tree, but eventually will be a site hosted on GitHub. We also are working on figuring out how to keep things like Meetup - which requires money we don't have.
