Recognition Practices Occupational Framework development
Contribute to the creation of the Recognition Practices Occupational Framework — the foundation for a global ecosystem of professionals who make open and participatory recognition a reality.
The Recognition Practices Occupational Framework (link to the development version) builds upon years of research and practice, including the Bologna Open Recognition Declaration (2016), the Paris Declaration on the Equality of Recognitions (2024) and the Open Recognition Manifesto (2025).
It defines the emerging professions, roles, and competencies that make recognition possible — in education, work, and communities. It supports the creation of new professional identities such as Recognition Officer, Embedded Recognition Practitioner, and Recognition Ecosystem Designer, who enable organizations and territories to build open, participatory systems of recognition that go beyond diplomas and certificates.

By contributing, you help us build the foundations of a new professional ecosystem for open recognition — one that values lived experience, mutual trust, and community-driven validation.
Why it matters
Recognition is the invisible fabric of learning, collaboration, and belonging.
Yet the people who make recognition happen rarely have a name, a role, or professional support.
The new occupational framework changes that: it provides a shared framework to train, support, and professionalize recognition practitioners — ensuring that recognition systems remain open, inclusive, and human-centered.
