FarmOS Support Group update
Published on July 6, 2023 by Greg Austic
Hi everyone. Wanted to let you know we are moving forward with the FarmOS improvements ! Thank you all so much for supporting our combined work, we're really looking forward to making this work and getting FarmOS to be the most useful, open source farm management tool we can make.
Timeframe
Each feature has a slightly different timeframe, but in general work will continue through early November. Please see our timeline for Phase I and Phase II completions below.
Cost
You are paying for the features you wanted. You can see the breakdown below across all partners below (including you). I am still hoping to get some additional support - if we do, we'll just offset some of your costs.
Billing
We are passing through the developer costs to you directly and billing monthly. The above costs are not-to-exceed estimates - if we find we need to ask for more (change order) we'll have a discussion with you before billing.
Dan TerAvest (Our Sci cofounder) may be following up to set up billing with you - please watch out for that email!
Communication
We will email you updates every few weeks with progress and updates. We will also be sending out screenshots or we may want you to try something out as we go, so keep an eye out for those requests as we go.
Growing the community
While Mo and Paul are doing the work, I'm going to be continuing to build out our community of producers building an effective, free and open source farm management system. So fingers crossed in the fall we'll have more partners to share costs and improve the quality of the features we're creating. If you know folks who may be interested, please let me know and I can talk through the process with them!
