As we close out 2023, the first full year of PNW.Zone being online, we've seen lots of growth and support.

1. What did PNW.Zone accomplish during 2023? How did PNW.Zone use donations?

We saw some very rapid growth in the 1st half of the year with that growth leveling off towards the end of the year. As of this writing, our stats look like:

Our server has a very extensive reach across the Fediverse and we see posts growing consistently each month.

We have used all our donations to cover hosting fees for the server.

2. What challenges did PNW.Zone face during 2023?

Our current monthly cost to run the server is approximately $225/month. Our challenge in 2024 will be how to ensure our donations continue to grow to cover our expenses. At the time of writing, we have a group of very generous donors that have committed a total of $100/month. That leaves us with a deficit of $125/month.

3. What are PNW.Zone's plans for 2024?

In 2024 there are a number of server optimizations that are in the works. Some will reduce our costs, such as our network costs, and others will make the service more reliable by providing better database redundancy. We'll continue to look for optimizations to reduce monthly costs to close the gap between donations and expenses.
