About

Project North Star — an open, nonpartisan platform for structured public deliberation in the United States.

We're building a place where people can work through real local and federal issues together — examining the bills and policies meant to address them, debating with evidence instead of noise, and collaboratively drafting well-documented policy positions the public can actually trust.

How it works
  • Bring real problems. Participants raise concrete local and federal issues that matter to them.
  • Examine the legislation. We connect each issue to the existing and proposed laws meant to address it.
  • Debate with evidence. Arguments are backed by sources and references, not just opinions.
  • Build reputation through contribution. Standing is earned through constructive, well-sourced participation.
  • Draft positions together. The community collaboratively writes and improves well-documented policy positions.
What makes it different
  • Verifiable, tamper-proof voting. Community decisions are recorded so results can be independently audited and trusted — no quiet rewriting of outcomes.
  • AI as a knowledge engine. AI helps participants summarize materials, surface sources and contradictions, map points of disagreement, and strengthen arguments — always as suggestions for human review, never making decisions on its own.

The focus is on civic engagement, knowledge-sharing, and transparent, verifiable decision-making — nonpartisan, and not tied to any candidate or campaign.

Where your support goes

We have a working product in active development. Contributions fund the small team and infrastructure needed to take it from prototype to a public MVP — development, design, content, hosting, and AI tooling. Open Collective lets us receive and spend every dollar in the open, so you can see exactly where your support goes.

If you believe public decision-making should be evidence-based, transparent, and trustworthy, please consider supporting the project — every contribution helps us build it sooner.
