About
Project Protocol is a rating tool for government supervision agents that creates a more equitable relationship between parole/probation officers and those under their supervision by allowing people on parole to have transparency into the most critical relationship of their re-entry.
The Problem
Parole is an extension of incarceration in the free community. Returning citizens are treated just as they were while incarcerated. The biggest fear of a returning citizen is violating their parole conditions and being sent back to prison. Many returning citizens don’t complain because they “don’t want to make waves” and accept the officer’s orders. Furthermore, a person doesn’t have the same parole officer for the duration of their parole. Officer’s get moved and officer expectations change. Keeping a returning citizen off balance.
The Solution
Project Protocol is a peer support that provides returning citizen’s a platform to anonymously rate their officer’s performance. The rating system will measure best practices and identify challenges within the State parole system. This empowers people to engage in supporting their peers by providing essential feedback about their parole officer expectations, providing supportive services, and conduct to requests from the returning citizen. The public will also have the privilege in knowing the overall rating of a parole officer. Reassuring the community that returning citizens are getting the support they need to successfully reintegrate into society.
