Year-End Review and Moving Forward
Published on December 21, 2022 by Maximilian Beyendorff

Hello,

First and foremost, we here at the Quarry Community would like to thank our generous donors. Your financial aid has helped us survive a difficult year. Since we opened in 2021, times have not gotten easier. We have learned that grassroots action is the only way to reliably care for our community. We continue to use the funds for essentials such as propane for heating in the winter, ice for keeping cool and preserving perishables in the summer, and for filling various needs as they arise and when they cannot be met through other means.

Our community has changed since its inception. Many volunteers have moved on, and many residents have moved to other locations or (yay!) gotten housing. Considering this, we plan to close our Collective in June of 2023. Until that point, all funds will continue to be used for the Quarry. If, at the time of our closing, any funds remain, we will donate them to a like-minded organization which focuses on aiding those of our neighbors who remain unhoused. We will post at least a month in advance our intentions. One of our options, assuming they would accept, would be the Minneapolis Supply Depot. They have been absolutely invaluable in aiding the Quarry but also other encampments throughout the Twin Cities. If you have any suggestions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to post them! Again, thank you for your generosity--it has not gone unnoticed.
