Spring 2022 Update
Published on June 6, 2022 by Nastia Goldstein

Happy Spring, Pantry Pals!

We're coming up on two years of running The Living Pantry and providing food, diapers, and wipes to the Bushwick and Bed-Stuy community. It's been an incredible journey, and we're endlessly grateful for all of our volunteers, our supporters, and the families who have come to rely on us. What started as a "Free Stuff" table at the height of 2020 has grown into a reliable program where people can obtain essential goods every Monday, rain or shine.

Since last fall, we've been receiving fresh produce through an NYC food program called P-FRED. This program, like many others created in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, is coming to an end. While we are in the process of applying to a permanent food pantry program called EFAP, we are also looking for other reliable sources of food for our pantry such as restaurant and grocery store donations, deliveries from non-profits, grant opportunities, and anything else that would help us provide food to approximately 120 people every week. If you know of any businesses or organizations that can help us out, put us in touch!

And while our goal is to receive food for free through relief programs rather than purchasing it, we do rely on your donations to fill gaps between programs, and of course to purchase diapers and wipes for our community. Thank you all for your continued support. Please keep on spreading the word about the work that we do, and encourage your friends and family to donate! Recurring donations really help, so if you're able to subscribe and sustain us on a monthly basis, please do! If anyone is interested in volunteering with us, please don't hesitate to reach out.

We look forward to many, many more Mondays of serving our community, and we hope you will continue to support us!

With Love,

The Living Pantry Team
