Come meet us, celebrate community

The big thing about community and solidarity isn't a "them and us" attitude. It's about understanding that asylum seeking migrants *are* our community. They are our neighbours, friends and more. So we're very pleased to announce two super-summery events happening over the next two weeks we'd love to see you at!
First up we have our Eid barbecue this Saturday at 1pm. You can direct message us on Facebook or Instagram for the location (we add this layer of security as we've intervened on months of racist abuse targeted at migrants, and like to minimise the risk of this happening), bring a barbecue, bring a picnic, dogs, kids, crafts, games, anything you like, and join in the fun.
Next we have a fantastic fundraiser courtesy of the lovely co-operative farm, Hempen, who've supported migrants hands on for yonks. On the 5th of August from 5pm we'll enjoy yoga, food, music and just all-round good-times, while raising some money for Reading Red Kitchen and Hempen too. You can even nab one of our very fetching Reading Red Kitchen t-shirts, as modelled in the pics by our friends at our boxing club, Reading Red Corner (which anyone can join, so message them to get fighting fit!). Get tickets here.
As the summer rolls on, our work doesn't end. We've been collecting clothes for Cowshed to distribute with Care4Calais in Reading, sharing amazing fresh produce from Veg4Reading and our food service and activities are going strong - speaking of which, we're on the hunt for empty plastic bottles for our refillable cleaning stuff stations, so let us know if you have any! Donations of food and cash to help us fill gaps and buy groceries and school uniforms are always welcome too.
As always, we'll never miss a day of supplying groceries to families, and that's because of your help. We'd love to meet you, get to know you, and make some memories together.
