Emergency Relief Fund for Displaced Households

PROJECT

This project supports Red Hook residents impacted by acute crises such as fires, flooding, power outages, and displacement.

About

Red Hook is particularly vulnerable to climate-related events and infrastructure strain, and our network is often among the first to identify and respond to emerging needs. While RHMA currently provides limited cash assistance, existing funding caps restrict our ability to respond meaningfully during emergencies.

This fund allows us to provide rapid, flexible assistance of $500–$1,200 per household, supporting urgent needs such as temporary housing, food, transportation, medical expenses, and replacement of essential items.

Funds will be distributed through our established intake and buddy system, ensuring aid reaches those most in need quickly and equitably. Based on past demand, we anticipate supporting 10–20 households directly, while stabilizing broader community networks.

By resourcing immediate recovery, this fund will help prevent longer-term displacement and strengthen neighborhood resilience in the face of increasing climate and energy-related disruptions.
