Post-Event Budget Recap - Reimagining Unconference 2023

🎉 Thank you for joining us in the 2nd annual Reimagining Unconference: Nurturing Collective Futures, held online, August 16th-18th, 2023!
This year, we doubled down on our North Star of modeling new ways of gathering and empowering collective and individual action through community co-creation and modeling liberatory practices. So:
What does "community co-creation" look like?
What does "modeling liberatory practices" look like?
For us, this means, distributing power from the few to many by:
✅ Giving speakers autonomy in choosing how they want to hold space and for how long - ie, "anyone can convene, can host."
✅ Defaulting to paid labor rather than volunteer labor by budgeting for co-creator honorariums upfront.
✅ Giving co-creators agency in deciding how they want to receive or reallocate their honorariums
This year, we designated one honorarium tier for all, with an estimated amount of $50+ for each community co-creator, including facilitators, sensemakers and support staff.
The Results
🎉 We raised a total of $1,522.38, with nearly a 33/33/33 split among 2022 give-back funds, ticket sales, and community sponsorships. These funds were dispersed with this allocation:
1. Starting Allocation
* Community co-creators honorarium: 95% of total = $60.26 per person (24 total), of which:
- 29% of co-creators gave back to the RU landback campaign
- 25% of co-creators gave back to fund future RU events

* Total cash dispersed to RU's landback campaign: 33% of total or $498
* Total cash dispersed to RU's 2024 budget: 24% of total or $362
