In 2023, R-Ladies NYC hosted several events ranging from blog writing workshops to book clubs and socials to career panels to coding hangouts. We also made a considerable effort to co-host events with other R-Ladies chapters and other groups in the wider data community (big thanks to R-Ladies Rome and Data Umbrella for working with us this past year). 

None of this would have been possible without our incredible board members who worked hard to organize these amazing events. Thank you Ayanthi, Clara, Jacqueline, Kristen, and Mei. And thank you to Open Collective for making it easy to manage our finances, which supported our board members’ planning efforts by funding dinners and paying for a brand new banner to use at in-person events! 

Our main challenge this past year was finding in-person spaces for meetups and dealing with uninvited guests during online meetups. We will make a larger effort to find in-person locations for meetups in 2024 and we will implement a stricter process for sharing online meetup information. We look forward to hosting more events that foster a sense of community, as well as more technical events that support learning at all levels.
