One Month in RWF2: A Concise Update
Published on December 22, 2023 by Sergio Benitez

One month since the foundation's announcement, I'm excited to provide you with a concise update on progress in the RWF2! More details on each of these to come in a detailed post.

  • Warm welcome to new team members: ELD joins the infrastructure team, while Henk and Arjen join the knowledge team. ELD is working on migrating Rocket's infrastructure from personal accounts to foundation-owned accounts, while Henk, Arjen, and I are working towards developing new learning materials for Rocket.
  • Three new corporate sponsors, Kindness (💎 Diamond), ohne-makler (💛 Gold), and 1Password (🤎 Bronze), are now contributing a combined total of $800/month to the RWF2. Thank you!
  • 18 new individual sponsors! Special thanks to Dave Teare of 1Password for a remarkable $1,000 donation, and to Dalton Downing and Asya Hristova for their generous $100 contributions. A sincere thank you as well to @lexara-prime-ai, @msehnout, @neithanmo, @louire, @spikegrobstein, @Failpark, @messense, @sgift, @martynp, @nathanielford, @wezm, and Colin Fuller for their financial contributions.
  • We've launched a new user stories initiative, with 5 stories currently in development! If you have a story to share, please reach out to us via Matrix (#rocket:mozilla.org) or via email ([email protected]). We'd love to share it.
  • The Rocket GitHub repository and domain name are now owned by the RWF2.
  • Development of Rocket v0.6 is underway! As promised, the roadmap and ongoing development activity are publicly available. See the Rocket v0.6 GitHub project.

We encourage the community to continue contributing in whichever way possible. Your input, feedback, and active participation are critical to continued progress on Rocket and the RWF2.

Thanks Sergio! Really happy to see the 0.6 roadmap, especially Add (more) CSRF protection#14 as that came up on a recent audit. Thankfully it was pretty easy to show this wasn't exploitable in our design, but I'd much prefer to avoid the conversation entirely. 🙂

I'd like to place a vote for Improve Logging #21. Definitely not for 0.6 as I'm looking forward to seeing smaller, more frequent releases. Would be great for 0.7 thought! 🤗

Best of luck on everything. Cheers!

Thank you for mentioning this! My thinking was that Improve Logging #21 would be a perfect candidate for the first uGrant, and your comment exactly supports that idea! Hopefully that will allow us to get the issue closed sooner than later. :)
