Supply Depot Finance and Fiscal Sponsorship Update!
Published on April 19, 2024 by flan
In October 2023, two Supply Depot volunteers walked into a meeting and asked GMCC to allow us to use their space to store and distribute supplies. That initial meeting has grown into a flourishing partnership:
- Supply Depot is now able to use our space at GMCC to receive and pack orders and as a base for all our distribution and our volunteer hours.
- On Fridays, we partner with GMCC and other organizations for Friday drop-in hours, when unhoused neighbors can come in for a hot shower, hot meal, clean clothes, supply orders, community, and more.
- On the day of the fire at Camp Nenookaasi, GMCC stepped up immediately - opening their building for residents who needed a warm and safe place to go, a good meal, a change of clothes, and to receive tents and other supplies.
Our previous fiscal sponsor ended their operations this spring, and we are grateful that GMCC has once again stepped up and agreed to become the Supply Depot’s new fiscal sponsor.
What does this mean? Your contributions on Open Collective remain tax-deductible!
The Supply Depot continues to be entirely volunteer managed and run. A core collective of about a dozen volunteers handle most of the day to day administrative tasks and recurring events such as pop ups and Friday drop-in hours.
We continue to work with a network of volunteers who pack, pick up, and distribute supply orders across Minneapolis and St Paul, as well as a group of propane volunteers who refilled propane tanks throughout the winter to keep our neighbors warm.
All of this is made possible by the kindness and generosity of your financial and donation support. If you had a recurring donation on Open Collective, you can now reinstate it!
