Friends of Save My Identity

We are the friends of Save My Identity (SMID), a Swiss Zurich-based non-profit association focused on the promotion, awareness and defense of the right to a legal identity and a proof of identity. SMID promotes research and the development of pilot projects on non-state solutions for the registration and issuance of an identity document for stateless persons, refugees, undocumented migrants and other people in vulnerable situations due to the lack of a DNI. SMID offers online legal assistance and advice to migrants and refugees. It has country chapters in Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Germany, Belgium, Spain, Italy and Ireland, among the most active.

Reclaiming Dignity through the Right to Identity

At Save My Identity, we work tirelessly to ensure that all people, especially migrants, refugees and stateless people, can exercise their right to a legal identity. We know that, without a legal identity, it is difficult to access fundamental human rights such as education, health or employment. 

Your donation will fund: 

• Digital Identity Programs: Raising awareness of the consequences for the most vulnerable populations and creating alliances to generate secure solutions based on blockchain. 

• Trainings and Workshops: To educate at-risk communities. 

• Face-to-face and virtual events: Disseminating the problem and promoting solutions. 

• 70% in direct projects (training, tools, presenting digital solutions). 

• 20% in awareness events and alliances. 

• 10% in operating costs for the sustainability of the organization.
