Scoot!

The school run is a major source of traffic, congestion & CO2 emissions. We are campaigning for more sustainable travel choices for families - from school buses to cargo bikes, we'd like to see a convenient, sustainable school run for all.

About

The school run makes up over 25% of all London morning rush hour car journeys. But not every school is equal when it comes to driving rates. Non-catchment schools, where pupils don’t live close to their school, have the highest driving rates.

We don’t think the impact of high driving rates at non-catchment (often faith or independent) schools is well-recognised. We would like to further research and analyse it to raise broader awareness of the issue.

Data we have collected so far means we believe 55,000+ car trips per day in Inner London, are due to non-catchment schools. They all take place within a 45 minute window, which creates congestion and pollution that affects us all.

We want to see all families having the option of a convenient sustainable journey to school. Our mission is to provide councils, parents and campaign groups information on the impact of non-catchment school traffic and to provide our proposed solutions which include cargo bikes, journey sharing, dedicated school mini-buses and school streets.
