Year-End Update
Published on December 22, 2023 by Sarah Cadorette

We have been humbled by this community's outpouring of support over the past year. In 2023, we have dispersed $19,441.43 to 36 Bay Area residents for essential expenses, including rent, child care, medicine, groceries, and gender-affirming care. Thank you to everyone who continues to show up in a spirit of radical trust and solidarity.

This past year presented a number of challenges as we were still new to using the Open Collective platform and working through a fiscal sponsor. We were also facing turnover in our Coordination team, and found that we were receiving requests for support in parts of the Bay Area where we had very few volunteers. In the coming year, we hope to create better engagement on our team through hosting more social events, and participating in events around SF. If you'd like to participate in any of our upcoming events, please find us on Instagram!

We also hope to continue to provide a platform for neighbors to support each other through distributing funds, in addition to the work we do by connecting community members for in-person support. You can always join us in the work we do by filling out a form on our website: https://www.sfmutualaid.com/

Thank you again to everyone who has participated in SF Bay Area Mutual Aid this year. May next year bring more equity, joy, and autonomy to our community.

In Solidarity,
SFMA

Hello Deja,

As we do not collect any demographic information for our recipients, there is no way for us to know anything about how you identify. We most certainly do not determine who receives funds based on demographic information, or anything other than the order in which we received the request, and whether that person has previously received support from us.

As you can see from our requests, there are several folks who made requests before you who have yet to receive funds. You are still in our queue, and we will contact you once we are ready to fulfill your request.

If you have other questions or concerns, please feel free to email us.
