About

South London Loves was formed in response to a number of far-right political demonstrations in South London. Largely lead by the fascist group Turning Point UK, these violent demonstrations have claimed to be in opposition to monthly Drag Time Story Hour events taking place at the Honor Oak pub in Lewisham. Over recent months these demonstrations have increasingly targeted and attacked trans and queer people in the area, as well as other marginalised people.

South London Loves, formed from a number of local grassroots organising groups, exists to support the monthly counter-demonstrations at the Honor Oak which have been organised by the local community in opposition to the presence of the far-right in the borough. Our fundraising allows us to provide the following resources:

- Providing Food, drink and first aid equipment for local counter-demonstrations and the meetings which help organise them

- Producing promotional materials to advertise and publicise upcoming demonstrations

- Producing and providing resources for use at the counter-demos, including safety leaflets, banners, sound amplification etc.

- Providing support to cover travel costs for those struggling and for those with additional access needs.

- Providing training to demo participants in topics including, legal rights training, protest safety information and basic first aid and self defence.
