March was awesome (thanks to you!)

Happy Spring, fridge friends! 🌻

We're celebrating a season of abundance for the South Philly community fridges. What a month it's been!

As of today, we currently have $11, 785 in our account and are working hard to fill fridges and pantries with the funds donated to us by our community. In March, we raised $3,421 and spent $7,035.21.

Of that, $5,054.46 was spent on groceries for our neighbors! We've got an amazing team of volunteers that stock our locations weekly -- and have new folks joining every month.

We were also fortunate to work alongside a partner mutual aid organization (Homies Helping Homies) to respond to the Delaware River Contamination situation at the end of the month. Thanks to donors, we spent $898.56 on bottled water donations. We also spent $400 on prepared meals by Rowhouse Grocery, $287 on annual fees for our website design, $232.50 on mechanical repairs for our fridge on 9th Street and $162.69 on supplies for our community events.

In March, we saw 169 total fridge and pantry fills! People's Kitchen filled the 9th St. fridge (which we run in partnership with Fridges and Family) with over 3,000 individual meals. Our other locations received more than 247 individual meals (and also 59 cupcakes!)

Other stats:

Fridges and Family was filled every single day in March (the PK volunteers filled the fridge with 50 meals daily) and received a total of 38 grocery fills (including donated food and purchased food)

Bok was filled 23 days out of the month and received a total of 30 grocery fills (including donated food and purchased food).

Cleveland St. was filled 13 days out of the month and received a total of 18 grocery fills (including donated food and purchased food).

DiSilvestro Playground was filled 24 days out of the month and received a total of 31 grocery fills (including donated food and purchased food).

Mifflin Square was filled 16 days out of the month and received a total of 22 grocery fills (including donated food and purchased food).

Point Breeze was filled 22 days out of the month and received a total of 30 grocery fills (including donated food and purchased food).

We couldn't do any of this without all of you, so thank you for believing in mutual aid, community care and reciprocity. You make this neighborhood a truly wonderful place and we hope to see you around the block (enjoying the sunshine!)
