May was awesome (thanks to you!)
Published on June 6, 2023 by Kathryn Nolan

It's finally summer -- the temps are heating up and our fridges and pantries are ready to be stocked with groceries for our neighbors!

Thank you for a wonderful May here in South Philly. As of today, we have $7,260.86 in our account. Last month, we raised $7,650.10 -- which included $4,000 in donations from Middle Child! We spent $9,424.51. Of that, $61.34 was spent on volunteer event supplies.

That means, $9,363.13 was spent directly on groceries to fill our fridge and pantry locations. Thank you for your generosity!

We've got an amazing group of volunteers and partner organizations that make this happen -- from our volunteer shoppers, to transport drivers, to other mutual aid orgs that share their resources with us. Thanks to this community, the fridges and pantries received 144 stocks of purchased food, 91 stocks of rescued food donations and 2,433 free meals. These meals are provided by our many partners, including People's Kitchen, Double Trellis, Performance Meal Prep and Rowhouse Grocery.

This summer, we'll be working hard to keep the fridges and pantries stocked with fresh food, including water, juice boxes and sports drinks as the weather gets hotter. If you're interested in shopping for groceries, hosting a food drive or holding a fundraiser for SPCF, please reach out at [email protected]. We'd love to hear from you.

We'll see ya around the block, South Philly!
