New Year Reimbursements
Published on December 8, 2023 by Jes Vasquez

Hi, neighbor 👋🏽 We just received an email from Open Collective Foundation with valuable information for anyone who interacts with SPCF on Open Collective.

Beginning January 1, there will be a “categories” drop down menu in the reimbursement process. When you are asking for reimbursement of groceries, choose “Food and Groceries;” this is specifically for stocking community fridges or purchasing food for events.
To learn more, you can watch this video.

All expenses for 2023 must be submitted by January 15 the latest. The sooner you can submit a receipt, is always better. This helps us stay on top of our budget.

If you are a business or org that needs to be paid by SPCF, you can submit an invoice directly through our Open Collective page. When you “submit expense,” choose “invoice” rather than reimbursement. This most often applies to neighbors who build or design our fridge shelter as well as businesses where we buy meals in bulk, and a typical itemized receipt cannot be provided.

The next Open Collective community forum will be January 5th, 2024. This is open to any organizations that use Open Collective, and often attended by anyone who approves reimbursements.  If you’d like to represent SPCF, please reply to this message.

Now that major business is out of the way, we are thrilled to announce that we will be installing a fridge and pantry at LUHV Vegan Bistro (19th & Ellsworth) THIS SATURDAY, Dec 9! We will need more help to stock and clean this location so please spread the word. If you’d like to contribute groceries from afar, you can ship shelf stable items through our Target Registry

We will host a SPCF volunteer meeting at this Skype link on Monday, December 11 at 6:30pm. We'll chat about end of year finances, discuss plans for the coming months, and address any questions and concerns from our neighbors.  These meetings are usually about 45 minutes to an hour. You can choose to just listen in without turning on your camera, and you can type in our chat box if you prefer not to speak but want to chime in.  If you cannot attend, you can view the updated MEETING NOTES as early as that evening or the next morning.

Thank you for your continued support in feeding our South Philly neighbors!!
