September Update šŸ‚
Published on October 13, 2022 by Kathryn Nolan

Ā
Hello Fridge Friends! The leaves are changing and neighborhood stoops are getting decorated with pumpkinsā€¦which means weā€™re looking forward to an especially abundant autumn, thanks to all of you!

We raised $1,902 in the month of September! This includes the funds we raised from our very first raffle held at Cartesian Brewing on September 21st ā€“ we raised a total of $624, which we split with our friends Homies Helping Homies. We also collected hundreds of dollars worth of hygiene items, which we now accept at our pantries. Delicious Venezualan food was provided by Sazon 2 Go and weā€™re already planning our next event for mid-November!Ā

While we waited for the incredible funds we received from Philly 10K, our funds dipped below $400 and stayed low for parts of the month ā€“ this happens occasionally, but we were able to pause grocery reimbursements and still see full fridges thanks to our amazing food donations and volunteer drivers (more on that below!)Ā

We spent $2,840 and reimbursed 22 fridge fill trips, which includes shopping trips that fill multiple fridges. We recorded a total of 120 fridge fills in September, which only includes fills completed with donor funds or large donations. Out of 30 days in the month, our locations saw:

Peopleā€™s Kitchen: 18 filled days
BOK: 23 filled days
Cleveland St: 16 filled days
DiSilvestro: 18 filled days
Mifflin Square: 21 filled days
Point Breeze: 26 filled days

Thanks again for helping to keep our locations clean and our fridges full. Mutual aid is about neighbors helping neighbors ā€“ and weā€™re so grateful to do this work alongside all of you.

See ya around the block!
