This year, the Belarusian diaspora in Latvia will be participating in the annual Riga Day for the first time. We will be setting up our booth at Town Hall Square on Saturday, August 19, 2023, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Our goal is to introduce and promote traditional Belarusian folk art. We will be conducting master classes on crafting wood carvings and charm dolls called "Zhadannitsa". Additionally, we will be showcasing contemporary Belarus through the works of Olga Yakubovskaya. The artist will also lead a master class on acrylic painting on canvas bags.
For our young participants, we have prepared board games that highlight the similarities between Belarusian and Latvian words, along with samples of national ornaments.
We are planning to have a photo booth featuring the artwork "Freedom Cats in Riga" by Olga Yakubovska.

At 4:15 PM on the main stage, we will extend its greetings to the city with a performance by cult Belarusian singer Lyavon Volski. To conclude the Belarusian segment, the "Frachori" choir will perform a rendition of the Latvian national anthem "Saule, Pērkons, Daugava" in the Belarusian language, symbolizing Latvia's support for a free Belarus.
