Rusty/SWMA/WSC Cycling Fundraiser

Benji is setting off on a cycling journey from Chicago to NYC to fundraise for Rusty Wheelbarrow farm, SWMA, and WSC.

Rusty Wheelbarrow Farm is a sister collective organized around the same overarching goals of Mutual Aid. Rusty was started by members of WSC collective, a volunteer run composting group in Woodside and Sunnyside. At Rusty, we’re also trying to build a local ecosystem that starts with harvesting the produce of our neighborhood’s labor, which is passed on to the caring hands of the SWMA pantries, and ends with planting the next crop. In this ecosystem, plant growth is powered by the sun, but also by the food scraps neighbors drop off, volunteers process, and soil life transforms into plant nutrients.

Before the summer season rolls in, Benji, the main volunteer/coordinator is setting off on a cycling journey from Chicago to NYC to fundraise for all of us: Rusty, SWMA, and WSC.

How would the funds be used?

Rusty: Building farm infrastructure like trellises and greenhouses for the winter (and more), educating our neighbors about food and sustainability (and more!)
WSC (AND Rusty): Updating and maintaining our composting site
SWMA: Food for distribution and other operation expenses!
