July 2022 Update
Published on July 11, 2022 by Rebecca Dixon

Dear friend of Sydenham Mutual Aid,

We are so happy to update that in July 2022, Sydenham Mutual Aid (SMA) provided £40 each to 40 families across 5 primary schools to help with purchasing food for their children over the school summer holidays.

It is now over two years since the first recorded case of Covid in the UK. As the government ends formal Covid restrictions and we hope that Covid become less of a concern, food and fuel poverty in Sydenham is not getting better, unfortunately it is getting worse.

Economic turmoil, soaring energy prices, cuts to Universal Credit, amongst others, are making normal life impossible for many. Families across Sydenham will go to bed tonight not knowing how they will be able to feed or cook their next meal. They are our friends, family, and neighbors.

We have, in our small way achieved incredible things in Sydenham. SMA is one of many groups that have worked together to keep people safe and healthy over the last two years. A community has been built which did not exist before, and with your help we will keep operating for as long as it is needed.

As always, please encourage your friends and family to donate. £5 a month makes a real difference to us.

Most of all, thank you for being part of SMA. These are hard and uncertain times, but we are not powerless. When we work together, we can achieve incredible things.

With very best wishes,
Sydenham Mutual Aid
