REMINDER - Draig Fest TODAY
Published on February 17, 2024 by Jia Wei Lee

We are VERY eager to FINALLY welcome you to the long awaited Queering Lunar New Year Draig Fest this Saturday! Please read this email for some important information before the event.

Reaching the Venue

The address is 36-38 Cathays Terrace, Cathays, Cardiff, CF24 4HX. There is a floor plan attached with the email.

There are free parking spots on Cathays Terrace, but they are usually full. Catherine Street and Woodville Road have parking spaces.

The Cathays train station is about 4 minutes from the venue and has a direct route from Cardiff Central station.

Registration

Doors will open at 04:30PM for registration; this is when you can also sign up for the workshops. Spaces for workshops are LIMITED and given on a first come first serve basis, so PLEASE BE THERE BY 04:30PM to make sure you secure your place. There are four workshops: the tea ceremony, the human library and living testimonies, calligraphy, and paper origami. Workshops logistics will be detailed on the day.

Queering Lunar New Year Draig Fest will start at 5PM SHARP. Be on time so that you don't miss any performances! This is why we ask everyone to be at the venue by 04:30PM.

Dress Code

Your own cultural or festive wear is very welcome and appropriate for the event!

We encourage our Draig Fest attendees to wear red or yellow, as it’s our festive colour, or the Palestinian flag colours (red, green, black, and white) in solidarity with the Palestine solidarity movement.
However, please avoid wearing only black and white as this is an unlucky combination for the lunar new year.

Filming and Photography

The event will be filmed and photographed; if you do not want to be filmed or photographed please let the well-being officers know. You can take your own pictures and videos - in this case, watch out for people wearing an ORANGE sticker as these people have not consented to be on camera.

Don't forget to tag us @yteuluteg when you post your pictures on your socials!

Accessibility and Wellbeing Information

  • PLEASE DO A COVID-19 TEST BEFORE COMING. Tests will be provided at the event if you can't afford one. We ask everyone to stay at home if you are feeling unwell to prevent the spread of infection. Be mindful of people's need for space and ask for consent before hugging or shaking hands.

  • The venue is wheelchair accessible with an accessible bathroom available. There are no gender neutral bathrooms. There is an outdoor courtyard where you can step out if you need fresh air.

  • There is a well-being space (floor plan attached with email). Ear plugs, stim toys and tea will be available in the well-being space.

  • Volunteers and committee members will be wearing name tags so you can identify them. There will be wellbeing officers at Draig Fest. Discrimination, abuse, and harassment will not be tolerated and anyone displaying this behaviour may be asked to leave to protect everyone.

  • Ask people their name and pronouns and make an effort to pronounce each other's name correctly #SayMyAsianName

For accessibility needs prior to the event, or and other queries, please email us at [email protected] or DM us on Instagram @yteuluteg
