Draig FEAST is back!
Published on January 13, 2025 by Anh Thu

We, Y Teulu Teg, hope you had the most joyful and nourishing experience at our Reunion potluck last year. Thanks to your support, presence, and trust in us, our first instalment was a resounding success.

We’re thrilled to invite you to the UK’s first-ever Queer Lunar New Year Festival, a two-part celebration brought to you by the queer ESEA (East and Southeast Asian) community in Wales—now in its second year! 🌟

What's happening this year?

A queer reimagining of the Lunar New Year Reunion Dinner, this free event is a safe, welcoming space to reconnect, share food that feels like home, and celebrate as a community. Highlights include Yutnori (a traditional Korean board game), a Tea Ceremony, and a celebration of renewal and rebirth, in alignment with the Lunar New Year’s symbolism.

Draig Fest – A Queer Lunar New Year Festival

1 February 2025, 6–9pm • Butetown Community Centre, Loudoun Square, Cardiff CF10 5JA
🎟️ Tickets: £10 for adults, £5 for child tickets, solidarity tickets available! (LIMITED AVAILABILITY— https://opencollective.com/teulu-teg/events/day-2-the-fest-2025-36796215

An evening of vibrant celebration and reclamation, Draig Fest showcases the power and creativity of queer ESEA people. There will be performances, Workshops & Exhibitions; Craft & Tea Stalls, etc. All-in-all a safe, inclusive space for family, friends, and allies to gather and celebrate.

Why This Matters: For many queer ESEA people, Lunar New Year has not always been accessible or safe to celebrate authentically. These events are about reclaiming that space, connecting with our roots, and celebrating the beauty of our identities unapologetically.

We would love for you to share this with your networks so we can make this celebration as vibrant and powerful as our community. If you have any questions, please reach out to us via DM (@yteuluteg) or email at [email protected]

Let’s celebrate as a collective—queer, creative, and unstoppable. We can’t wait to see you there!

Warm wishes and solidarity,
Y Teulu Teg (@yteuluteg), Wales’ QTIPOC Arts Collective
