Draig Fest: Queering Lunar New Year - The Feast
📢 CALLING ALL QUEER EAST/SOUTHEAST ASIAN QUEERS OF WALES AND BEYOND (including allies)! 📢
Y Teulu Teg brings you the Queer Lunar New Year Feast! 🍲🥟🥢
A FREE potluck dinner for queer East/Southeast Asian (ESEA) folks and allies to celebrate the lunar new year in a safe and affirming space. We are bringing the community together in the way that we all love: FOOD!
Bring some food but most importantly, yourself and your friends to Cathays Community Centre on Saturday 25th of January 2025 from 6PM-9PM.
The Feast is an intimate event specifically aimed at folks who are not able to celebrate Lunar Year the traditional way, whether it's because you are part of the ESEA diaspora, aren't able to be with family, or can't go back home. This is for you to find yourself within your community - and to have amazing food!
Spaces are limited, so please book your FREE ticket ahead of time!
📅 Saturday 25th January 2025, 6-9pm
📍 Bingo Hall, Cathays Community Centre, 36-38 Cathays Terrace, Cardiff CF24 4HX
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
- PLEASE DO A COVID-19 TEST BEFORE COMING. Tests will be provided at the event if you can't afford one. We ask everyone to stay at home if you are feeling unwell to prevent the spread of infection. Be mindful of people's need for space and ask for consent before hugging or shaking hands.
- The venue is wheelchair accessible with an accessible bathroom available. We will be making the bathrooms gender neutral for the event. There is an outdoor courtyard where you can step out to if you need fresh air.
- Label all your food with the ingredients, especially allergens.
- PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN CUTLERY, MUG AND PLATE. Also feel free to bring tupperware to take leftover food home; we actively encourage taking leftovers home instead of throwing it away.
- Bring whatever food you can, and eat however much you need.
- This is a social event all about meeting people, both loved ones and new faces. Please be respectful towards each other; discrimination, abuse, and harassment will not be tolerated and anyone displaying this behaviour may be asked to leave to protect everyone.
- Ask people their name and pronouns and make an effort to pronounce each other's name correctly #SayMyAsianName
