We're on the arXiv!

Today, we put a conference paper about the project (presented at ADASS XXXV) on the arXiv! The paper presents an outline of the motivation, technical aspects, and first 30 months of the feeds. Our attendance (online) at the conference was paid for from this fund: As ever, thank you so much for your support! In addition to outlining the project, the paper is also an important way for early-career researchers on our development & moderation teams to pick up credit for the work they're doing.
As a part of putting the paper together, we also looked up some statistics. For instance: Throughout 2025, the Astronomy feed averaged around 740,000 views per month by 92,000 different users. Which is awesome!
Here's to a great 2026 - we'll be in touch soon about our plans to roll out PDS (user account) hosting in the coming months, which Open Collective backers (that's you!) will get priority access to.

Huge congratulations on getting the paper published on arXiv! It’s fantastic to see how community funding directly supports both technical milestones and career growth for early-career researchers. Those 2025 view statistics are incredible—740k monthly views is a testament to the value this project provides. Really excited to hear more about the PDS hosting rollout in 2026!
