About

The Boring Fund Aotearoa is a community-led microgrant fund for the unglamorous costs that keep grassroots organisations running: web hosting, accounting, the few admin hours that stop everything falling over. Many funders back projects and programmes, but the everyday costs of running an organisation are too often overlooked.

How it works: people give koha into the fund. Small organisations apply with a short, plain-language form. Eligible applications go into a random draw, grants are paid out, and there are no reports to file afterwards. We start by trusting that you know what your organisation needs.

Where your koha goes: most of what we raise goes straight back out as grants, with admin kept low. Every koha covers a real boring thing for a real community group somewhere in Aotearoa. Gift Collective have an admin fee of 8% on all funds that come in, the benefit of being fundheld by the Gift Collective is that you can get a donation receipt and claim 33% back.

If donating through here is a FAFF email us at [email protected] and we can give you a bank account number to make it easier.

Who we are: The Boring Fund Aotearoa was started by three people who have spent years in the not-for-profit sector. It is a project under Gift Collective, the fundholding service of The Gift Trust, a registered charitable trust. Your koha is eligible for a New Zealand donation tax credit, and the money is held and paid out transparently through this page.
