Project Update – The Ripple Effect
Published on March 6, 2026 by Netty Lou

The Ripple Effect project has now reached an exciting milestone. We have collected over 50 individual contributions for the collaborative ocean inspired dress, created by participants and community groups using repurposed materials.

Each piece is currently being documented and photographed before we move into the next stage of the project, construction of the final garment.

Alongside the dress, additional creative elements are emerging through community participation. A local scout group has created a wearable 3D whale cape, which will form part of the wider storytelling display at the final event.

Planning is now underway for our Dress Reveal and Community Celebration on Friday 8th May 2026, where the completed dress will be unveiled for the first time. The event will bring together contributors, community members and supporters to celebrate the collective creativity and conversations around sustainability and ocean awareness that the project has generated.

We are extremely grateful to everyone who has contributed their time, creativity and support so far and we look forward to sharing the next stage of the journey as the dress begins to take shape.
