NOTICE: Update to the Social Change Nest Open Collective Terms
Published on April 15, 2024 by Saoirse

Hi there,

We hope you’re all doing well! The below message contains important information about recent changes made to our Terms of Service and how it’s been amended to take into account Election Law.

We have been working closely with Bates Wells & Braithwaite London LLP and all of our groups to understand how the Election Law applies to us and affects the groups that we host over the past few months.

We contacted you in Autumn 2023 to ask about your activities in the context of Election Law, and since then have hosted an information webinar with Bates Wells & Braithwaite London LLP. Together we have been working out the best way forward that protects the integrity of our groups.

Following advice from Bates Wells & Braithwaite London LLP, we have updated the SCN Open Collective Terms. They now include the following clause: “10.8. the Client will be solely responsible and liable for ensuring they are compliant under Election Law when conducting any activity that falls under Regulated Activity, and any other relevant election laws applying to the Client’s work.”

Now, each group is considered its own entity, with its own financial limits, rather than being grouped together with all the other groups we support.

For details about what falls within the election law framework, please check out:
It's worth noting that certain activities may have financial limits and require notification and registration with the Electoral Commission. We highly recommend consulting the guidance available on the Electoral Commission website, as well as the resources we've listed above.

We are committed to continuing to support the groups we host through Open Collective, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us at [email protected] if you have any questions or concerns.

Warm wishes,

The Social Change Nest Team
