💰Funding opportunities
- 1-5k funding Opportunity from Delamere Dairy Foundation - Groups in England, Scotland and Wales can apply for £1,000-£5,000. Learn more and apply here. Deadline: 31st August.
- Severn Trent Water Community Fund - Groups in the East Midlands, West Midlands, and South West regions of England can apply for grants of over £2,000 for community and environmental projects. More info here. Deadline for the next panel: 11th August and 13th October.
- Democratic Participation Grants from Greater London Authority - the funded projects will support Londoners to navigate the democratic system post election helping them with local level decision-making, community organising and taking part in wider civic life. More info here. Deadline: Tuesday 6th August.
- People and Place 2025 by Footwork Trust - this is a programme for community innovators providing mentorship and an unrestricted 5k grant to each project. Click here for the details. Deadline: 9th September.
📜Heads Up: Watch Out for Fraudulent Claims!
Just a quick heads-up that one of our mutual aid groups recently spotted a fraudulent expense claim. While The Social Change Nest has checks in place, it's important for admins to be vigilant. Here are a few tips:
As admins, it’s important to keep an eye on expense claims for anything that looks off. Here are a few tips:
- Check Bank Account Details: If someone in your local community has an international bank account, it could be a red flag. There might be a good reason for it, but it's worth looking into.
- Verify Receipts: If there are receipts of invoices attached, have a look to check they look legit and match the expenses being claimed.
- Watch for Duplicate Claims: Ensure the same expense isn’t being claimed more than once.
- Look for Inconsistencies: Keep an eye out for any discrepancies in the information provided, like mismatched dates or amounts.
