Happy September, everyone!
Here’s what we were up to in August:
We received £1,774.41 in donations from 108 contributors and we spent £3,081.85. We have £11,629.58 left in our main pot and £830 in our Fund For Wales Grant. We’re also so happy to report we’ve had some lovely fundraisers lately! Thank you so much to Songbirds Choir Cardiff for their £117 fundraiser at their ‘Time After Time’ concert!! Thank you also to ALTS Ice Hockey Club Oxford for their donation of £244.77. Last but not least, thank you to Kallan Lewis for the £521 fundraiser!
We kicked off the month with Llandovery Pride which was lovely. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello!
As usual, we’ve continued to have an absolute blast at our Swim & Gym events. Our next Swim & Gym event will take place on the 26th. As a reminder, swimmers are welcome to swim without a swim top. We have access to a full gym, as well. As always, many thanks to Not a Phase for collaborating with us on these events! In case you missed it, we added a little feature of our Personal Trainer Steph! We’ve also been having a lovely time at our hobby meetups! Thank you to everyone who joined us in August and earlier this month! Keep an eye on our Instagram or reach out to us if you’d like to join us in the future. Don’t forget - we have snacks and drinks to share at these!
We had planned to do some bike riding lessons with Momentwm in the middle of the month but are now hosting the event on October 3rd! Please DM us for tickets.
We were proud to march alongside Trans Pride Cardiff and so many other people at the march on the 23rd. It was an incredible time to show up for each other and take up space. Trans, intersex, or nonbinary in Wales? You’re not alone.
We were proud to join Trans Pride Cardiff for a second time on 29th and 30th August alongside We Exist and Cymru Cwiar i Balestina (Cymru Queers for Palestine). Thank you to everyone who showed up to support Afghan families from the fascist hate against them. The same forces that attack TIN and queer people are attacking refugees, and we won’t stand for it. Refugees are welcome here!
Do you know BSL? We are looking for a volunteer to join our team as a BSL interpreter. We’re specifically looking for someone to join our Swim & Gym meets on two Friday evenings per month, but we would love to have someone join more events if possible. Please message us if you’re interested!
Finally, here’s a resource we heard about recently: Umbrella Cymru have started a social group for TIN people ages 18-25. Creat+ve is a group based in Caerphilly and is designed to empower participants through arts, crafts, and mixed media activities while enhancing a sense of belonging and increasing social confidence. Check out the Umbrella Cymru website for more info!
That’s all for this month. Keep taking good care of yourselves and each other, and we’ll see you again next month!
In solidarity,
Your TAC Team
