Most DC residents and visitors do not have access to a car. The Justices live in tony suburbs inaccessible by public transportation (other than Kavanaugh & Roberts in Chevy Chase, accessible by Metro). Uber/Lyft costs $40+ one-way from DC to Barrett in Falls Church, Alito in Alexandria, Thomas in Fairfax Station, or Gorsuch in Potomac. $40 also helps an activist with a car gas up for a week's worth of driving to protests.
