W3C Web Standards Participation

I am currently an invited expert to both the ARIA Working Group and Privacy Working Group, as well as member of the Web DX & Security Web Application Guidelines Community Groups. I’d like to fundraise for my participation in standards.

About

As part of lola's lab I participate in web standards and open-source initiatives, as both an invited expert and community member. This fund is to enable me to continue participation in this work.

Over the years, I’ve contributed to several major projects and organizations in the web community, including:
  • As a member of the W3C ARIA Community Group and Web Platform Program Lead at Bocoup, I successfully secured support for AT-Driver’s inclusion in the W3C Browser Testing and Tools Working Group charter.
  • I’ve been actively involved in the ARIA Authoring Practices Guide (APG) Task Force and serve as an Invited Expert to the Privacy and ARIA Working Groups.
  • I’ve contributed to developing Browser Compat Data used by the Mozilla Developer Network (MDN), Baseline, and CanIUse, through my roles with Open Web Docs, Bocoup, and the WebDX Community Group.
  • I create educational resources on topics like cookies, third-party tracking, and web APIs. My work is featured in tutorials and blogs on platforms like MDN.
  • I’ve led and facilitated workshops and speaking engagements at prestigious events, including State of the Browser London 2024, TPAC 2022 & 2023, and TechKnow Day 2021. You can watch my State of the Browser talk below.

Why Your Support Matters

To continue this work, I need the support of the wider developer, open-source and web standards community. Your support will directly fund my participation in relevant standards groups, and contribute directly to the development of web standards. Individuals can give either on a monthly or yearly basis, and corporations can sponsor this work in exchange for some benefits. This funding is essential to sustaining meaningful, inclusive contributions to the evolution of the web. By supporting this goal, you help ensure that web standards are developed with accessibility, privacy, and a range of diverse perspectives.
