About

Support Web Advocacy & Standards with Lola’s Lab ✨

I’m Lola Odelola, and I run Lola’s Lab, a consultancy dedicated to web advocacy, standards, and open source strategy. I work independently on open-source projects that make the web more accessible, inclusive, and equitable. This work is sustained through sponsorship from individuals and organisations who share these values.

If your company or foundation is committed to digital accessibility, browser diversity, and inclusive standards development, I invite you to sponsor my work.

Why Your Support Matters

Most standards participants are funded by big companies. As an independent advocate, I rely on community and corporate sponsorships to continue this work. Your support funds:
  • Development of accessibility interoperability data for potential integration into tools like Baseline
  • Browser contributions, including emerging browser engines like Servo
  • Representation and leadership in critical W3C working groups
  • Public resources, including podcasts, documentation, and developer education

Current Projects

1. Accessibility Compat Data (ACD)
The ACD is an initiative to provide accessibility interoperability data across browsers and assistive technologies. This data is designed for potential integration into developer platforms such as Baseline and MDN. You can learn more about this project in the GitHub repo.

2. Implementing `CloseWatcher` in Servo
Servo is an experimental browser engine originally developed at Mozilla. I'm implementing `CloseWatcher` at the engine level, bringing native close semantics to custom UI components as defined in the web specification.

3. W3C Technical Architecture Group
As an elected TAG co-chair, I provide direction for the TAG,  conduct design reviews for web standards, contribute to architectural guidance, and co-edit the Societal Impact Questionnaire, which supports ethical and inclusive technology development across the W3C ecosystem.

4. What the Spec?!
This is a monthly podcast where I unpack browsers and web standards with the people who create them. Available on your favourite podcast app and also by RSS.

5. W3C Docs Community Group Chair
As co-chair of the W3C Web Docs Community Group, I help guide efforts to improve and unify documentation for the web platform. This group is open to everyone, including those who aren't members of the W3C.

You can support this work through one-time or recurring contributions. Companies can also give larger sums. If your company prefers to make a bank transfer, please email me at [email protected].

Join me in making the web better for everyone!✨
