Here are 5 ways to help Ward 5 Mutual Aid
Published on May 30, 2023 by Sharell Jarvis
Mutual aid groups have been an invaluable part of the public response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Ward 5 Mutual aid has provided many forms of support, in particular grocery shopping which has enabled our most vulnerable neighbors to self isolate. While the federal COVID-19 PHE declaration ended on May 11, 2023 there are still great needs for Ward 5 residents.
Here are 5 ways to help Ward 5 Mutual Aid:
Become A Runner:
- Don't worry, there's no actual running involved! A runner shops for groceries for your neighbors in need. You get reimbursed for items purchased and get gas support (if needed).
Help With Admin Work
- Listen or read incoming requests. Log and assign runners with requests according to their neighborhood.
Supply Hub Helper
- Organize and help keep the supply hub tidy. The more volunteers available to staff the hub, the more days and hours we can be open for the public.
Make A Donation
- Donate Food and Non grocery items. Popular items include toilet paper, paper towels, dish detergent, laundry detergent, baby wipes and Feminine products.
- Direct monetary aid is often the most effective support to people in need. All funds received go directly to grocery, cleaning supplies and hygiene products for our neighbors. https://opencollective.com/ward-5-mutual-aid
