About

                                                    Web archiving for all!

Webrecorder provides a suite of open-source tools and packages to capture interactive websites and replay them at a later time as accurately as possible.

We do this by developing tools that capture in a 'user-driven' form of web archiving, where the user is able to direct the archiving process through their browser in order to ensure high fidelity of websites.

Our mission is to make life easier for those trying to archive the web, both institutions and individuals alike by maintaining existing open-source tools, advancing on open-source software development and researching new ones.

Check out our tools on our GitHub page:
  • Archiveweb.page: Capture tool that turns your browser into a full-featured interactive web archiving system.
  • Replayweb.page: Replay tool that allows you to explore and view interactive archived webpages directly in your browser.
  • Browsertrix Crawler: (Chrome) browser-based high-fidelity crawling system, designed to run a customizable browser-based crawl in a single Docker container.
  • pywb: Python (2 and 3) web archiving toolkit for replaying web archives.
