mid-February update
Some big events in the works!
I am heartened by all the donations, also.
1) Every Weds and Thurs Mighty-O donuts in Greenlake is donating their delicious vegan donuts. Please say thank you if you go in there!
We are getting them to medical clinics, preschool teachers/daycare sites, food banks, pharmacies...let us know where else might take some around 3pm on those days. They are not individually wrapped, but are boxed up at the store, 24 per box.
2) Wednesday, Feb 24th, with the help of Glassybaby Foundation, we're feeding Ronald McDonald House staff and guest families with a delicious dinner from Kaspar's (Queen Anne). When I delivered their lasagna to UW Virology, I could not believe how amazing my car smelled! Check out https://kasparsseattlecatering.com/ and https://www.glassybaby.com/, where $3 of every purchase goes to the Foundation, which supports other nonprofits.
3) After months of planning, including groundwork by Signe Burke, I am so pleased to announce that we are teaming up with King County METRO to feed ALL bus drivers and transit employees (LINK, scheduling, facilities...everyone!). Stay tuned for more details. This colossal effort to feed some 3,000 people will take place the week of March 18-25, 2021, which is Metro Appreciation Week, and is almost exactly one year after Seattle entered shelter-in-place orders under Governor Inslee (March 13, 2020, Seattle Public Schools closed down). What a wonderful time to reflect on the past 12 months of pandemic and thank these amazing essential workers who have been getting other essential workers to their jobs!
