Good evening neighbors!

We hope everyone has had a safe and enjoyable October!

-

Thank you to everyone who helped out this month. We helped move 1152 food boxes weekly, plus distributed ready-made meals & hand sanitizer to local house-less neighbors.

Shout out to our houseless resident outreach volunteers, wellness-check callers, delivery drivers and warehouse movers!

  • Bri, Richard D., Jeff U., Jen B., Alllie, Connor, Liz, Rachel, Elba, Natasha R., Maira, Bob, Jason, Kayla and Bradie

And a special shout out to Ana T. for her amazing work speaking with families, doing wellness calls, and following up with their aid requests over this past summer and early fall. Thank you Ana! :)

-

The USDA Farmers to Families food box program was renewed for Round 4 and we've confirmed boxes for at least this Saturday. So, we’re looking for our usual volunteers:

  • Callers/Texters
  • Warehouse movers
  • Volunteer drivers on Saturdays

For more info and to volunteer, see/comment on our Slack thread.

-

Able to shop/donate and deliver baby items, clothing, and/or cleaning supplies (amongst other items)?

See our outstanding aid requests here. With our current budget, can reimburse up to $100 per shopper.

-

Want to get more involved? We're looking to decentralize and expand our neighbor outreach!

Volunteers are needed for the following positions:

-Driver Coordinator

-Aid Request Coordinator

-Flyering

-Shopping

-Houseless Outreach Team

-Wellness Callers

For more information see our IG post, and/or email [email protected] to get started.

 -

Have questions about coronavirus?

@BlockClubCHI launched a hotline to help! Text/call ‪312-248-4876‬ with any questions you have — from testing and symptoms to unemployment and rent relief — and their team will connect you with the info you need.

-

Lastly, please also keep your eyes peeled for our November "Town Hall" meeting - doodle and zoom info to follow.

Let us know if you can help in any of the ways above, or have other skills to volunteer with. We so appreciate all the work that has gone into our grassroots organization already.

In Solidarity,

Wicker Park-Bucktown Mutual Aid
