Supporting Agroecological farming and collaborative action in the Upper Wye catchment
About
Wye Farmers is united around a commitment to change, innovation and to resilient livelihoods rooted in an Agroecological local food system that supports nature-led farming approaches and contributes to the restoration of the River Wye Catchment.
Our core objectives are:
- Knowledge Sharing - To foster communities of practice amongst farmers, encouraging experimentation, shared learning and collaboration, driving innovation in sustainable, nature led food system practices.
- Natural resource restoration - promoting and encouraging participation in practices that encourage and restore life in our soils and fresh water systems.
- Communities - To build bridges between our farmers, local communities and students to be resilient to climate breakdown and address social inequalities.
- Connectivity and collaborative working - connecting the farmer voice with other projects in the region.
- Resilience - working together to facilitate the emergence of networks of co-owned, small-scale, local food processing hubs, that have the ability to support farmers transitioning to nature friendly practices. Empowering the region's communities to directly access locally produced, affordable, nutritious food.
- Pathways - supporting learning pathways for students into the local food and farming system and beyond.
