XR Youth Solidarity

Decolonial youth environmentalism to transform our society.

About

XR Youth Solidarity is a youth organization working to decolonise conservation. We are a group of youth activists, led by our partners in the Global South. We work to sustain connections with our Global South siblings, showing the links between struggles and how we can work together to make real change. We are advocating for a justice-based conservation model centred around local community leadership and indigenous rights over their respective customary lands. This is the model we need to survive the climate crisis. An example of our recent work is the WTF WWF campaign, which was the outcome of collaborations built between activists and indigenous and local community leaders more details can be found here: https://www.wtfwwf.org/.

Our work revolves around connecting with and learning from the ongoing resistance of indigenous communities in the Global South on the frontline of social, political and environmental injustices. Our solidarity is rooted in the personal and long-term relationships we have built with these communities. We are led by the priorities, visions, voices and decision-making of our indigenous partners. We are able to lend the extinction rebellion name to amplify our partners work and their struggles, often times increased visibility leads to increased safety for our partners on the frontlines.

We also regularly hold decolonising conservation talks and solidarity workshops to inform and pass on learning about climate justice and how the climate crisis disproportionately affects those in the Global South
