Hello Friends!

Skip and I have some big news that is also a little scary. We talked about when to write about this publicly, and while Skip voted to let you all have a good New Years and wait to say anything. I’m voting for putting this out there to have the suckiness stay in 2022.

First picture is current proof of Skip’s existence. Second picture is of some issues with his heart. It’s looking like his heart needs a lot of love.

Wednesday evening around 8 pm, Skip experienced a mild heart attack. I say mild because we caught it right away and called 911. And thankfully it appears that there is no damage to the heart itself. However, the “event” preceded us discovering multiple blockages in three of his main arteries.

He spent less than 48 hours in the hospital and was doing so well that they discharged him to rest and recover over the weekend. We got some good sleep last night. But we’re now preparing for triple bypass surgery on Tuesday.

Open heart surgery is a scary business. But there is plenty to be thankful for and the prognosis looks really pretty good for a full recovery down the road. The risks and statistics that the surgeon offered were much lower than we thought, despite Skip’s pre-existing conditions. If there are no complications, it will be at least three months before he’s back to “normal”.

We’ve already had an amazing about of support from loved ones, and I expect that there will be an avalanche of additional support from all of our lovely friends. We’re currently set on most immediate needs, but I’m already making lists of things we will need shortly. Love and prayers (if you’re into that) would be greatly appreciated for the moment.

I’ll do my best to provide updates over the next week. Still figuring out the best way to communicate with everyone. But might end up creating a blog or something for easy access.
And that’s about it for now. Happy Freakin’ New Year!
