Adele Hauwai is of Ngati-Kahungunu, Tuhoe, & Ngati-Maniapoto descent. She is the CEO/Board Member for Healing Innovation Hub. This charity idea was formed when she was in hospital after attempting suicide due to several mental distress caused from childhood traumas. It was from that experience that she learnt to have more compassion & empathy for people who are experiencing traumas, mental health, & suicide challenges in any different way. She has Special Education & Business university degrees & runs a few businesses as well as this charity. She also gave a TedX talk in 2020 titled 'Epilepsy Warrior'. What she learnt throughout her journey of epilepsy also was to "fall over seven times, stand up 8". Healing Innovation Hub's charity mission is to Heal, Innovate, & Inspire.
