About
AICAW A.C. was founded on May 5th 1983 by Rocío Echeverría Ortíz, a nurse who worked for the Secretary of Health Jalisco in their rural center San Andrés Cohamiata, her stay was six years and that motivated her to found the association to help the Wixaritaris who are referred to the city of Guadalajara and Zapopan for specialized services.

The association receives Wixaritaris who are referred by their rural health centers with 2nd and 3rd level health problems. Depending on their condition and treatment, some of the patients need to stay in the city during their recovery. Casa Huichol provides them with room and board during their stay in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.
In addition, we provide guidance in their native language, arrange for their medical treatment and transportation when needed. AICAW A.C. is a non-political and secular association with respect for their customs and traditions.
The shelter provides links with the health secretariats, civil society, businesses and foundations for the needs of both the shelter and the sick. All services are free, benefiting a monthly average of 30 to 60 patients.
