Newsletter October 2020: general assembly on fundraising, mutual aid groups for COVID-19 new wave
Published on October 21, 2020 by Leen Schelfhout

Dear all

Our last general assembly on October 8th totally energized us šŸ¤©. With a topic like ā€˜fundraising and crowdfundingā€™, and all behind a computer screen, that is quite an achievement šŸ˜‰

We have learned a lot, the experts were amazing, and the expertise and perspectives from the different participating collectives proved once again the importance of learning together. Thank you! šŸ™šŸ½ You can readĀ the full report here, and moreĀ documentationĀ will follow.

However,Ā the situation has changed around us šŸ˜·.Ā We are now in the midst of a second COVID-19 wave and we need to slow down activities with physical meetings. From our experience in March, weā€™ve seen many collectives switch gears to focus more on regenerative culture and to provide support to their communities, instead of continuing the ā€˜activist business as usualā€™. Many have created Mutual Aid (Funds) and thatā€™s something that we would love to encourage. You can find a couple of examples here: UKĀ Oxford Mutual AidĀ or even in the USĀ Portland Coronavirus Solidarity Fund. And one of our own collectivesĀ Symbiosis PDX.Ā

If youā€™d like to learn more about how to set up such mutual aid for your community, pleaseĀ respond directly to this emailĀ and if enough of you are interested we can organise another assembly with experts from different mutual aid collectives. We could organise a special COVID task force as soon as next Tuesday 27 October. Let us know! ([email protected])

AllForClimate Facebook page

Every week we try to put a collective in the spotlight onĀ https://www.facebook.com/AllForClimate. We need your help for this: send us a message whenever you organise something, tag us in your posts, let us now when you start a fundraising action etc. We are happy to share news on this page to help you reach more people.

Facebook fundraisers for your collective

AllForClimate is now officially recognized as a charity organisation by Facebook. That means we can run Facebook Fundraisers, as an individual (think birthdays or Christmas) or as a collective (= via the facebook page of your collective). Find out how to do it in theĀ documentation here. Go check it out and give it a try!

Fundraisers: special task force team for Christmas

The end of the year is arriving soon. We would love to start a fundraising campaign with interested collectives hosted by AllForClimate, and use everything we have learned in the general assembly. If you are interested in joining this special task force team,Ā please let us now!Ā The goal: avoid useless gifts from your inlaws and siblings, but get the money to support actions and citizen initiatives. More news on this will follow.

As always, never hesitate to contact us! We love to hear from you!
