more on the schedule & fiesta below!

since ancient times, humans have failed at some of their greatest undertakings. out of this failure has arisen profound technologies: the fiesta and the siesta.

the summer has been hot and our greatest aspirations have been busy laughing at us for our boldness to start a school! the hills are steep here and sometimes it is simply better to tumble into the creek than climb the highest summit. we give in to gravity — into the laughter of the land and surrender ourselves to the simple longing to celebrate with you: which is both an act of joy and an act of greatest need.

we invite you to help us dance this beginning so that the corn and cotton grows tall! help us strum the strings of each other's hearts so that this prayer for a long and healthy arc is granted the propulsion it needs to lift off the ground! not a class, not a training, a forest bonanza to celebrate and inaugurate our prayer for THE SCHOOL FOR INCLEMENT WEATHER.

THE SCHOOL FOR INCLEMENT WEATHER is set on the banks of an atmospheric river, just above the thermal belt in Kashia Pomo territory in Northern California. we are a place to study and be in practice with the changes that the earth is making, sensing that shifting and intensifying climates will require renewed ways of knowing the world and responding to their passions.

Beyond climate adaptation, we let climate mutation transfigure us: as the earth mutates, how must we mutate in return? Always a few steps behind the trickster, our inquiries are humbly guided by fragile attempts to make sanctuary amidst collapse. The school is curated by brontë velez and jiordi rosales, and draws its shape from three wandering paths: indigenous food sovereignty, prescribed fire, and the prophetic tradition of interspecies relations and fiber arts.

Gathered around us are a network of wisdom keepers and teachers who convene their own inquiries on varying elements of living in inclement weather. Those who study here move at the rhythm of the weather throughout the year’s cycles and apply the skills, senses, and lifeways that arise from courting it. please be in touch!
