Seaweed Community Action Fund
PROJECT
Organization: Brackish & Co.
Community-funded seaweed education, outreach, and shared policy work to build public demand and turn community priorities into practical proposals.
About
The Seaweed Community Action Fund is a community-funded year of seaweed education, public outreach, and shared policy work on the West Coast.
The goal: take CAPRA (California Aquaculture Permitting Resiliance Act), a draft California seaweed aquaculture bill I built, in combination with agency collaboration, from AB 2051, from draft to introduced law, and build the public demand to carry it. That means finalizing the bill language with agency and academic review, retaining a contract lobbyist, and running public education and outreach so the bill arrives with a constituency behind it.
This is funded by many, not one investor.
Community contributions start at $5. Businesses, organizations, grant funds, and public agencies can sponsor defined pieces of the work. Every paid role except the contract lobbyist uses the same $50 per hour community rate.

Every dollar is visible on this page's public ledger.
The second half of funding releases only when four milestones are met: final bill language verified, a lobbyist retained, a bill author committed, and a published count of public supporters.
